In a surprising move, Lil Wayne announced the release date for his highly anticipated album, Tha Carter VI, through a Cetaphil commercial titled “We’re All a Lil Sensitive.” The ad humorously addresses Wayne’s disappointment over not being selected to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans. Throughout the commercial, the sequence “6-6-25” appears on sports jerseys and a scoreboard, subtly hinting at the album’s release date. The ad concludes with Wayne declining Super Bowl tickets, stating, “Nah, this is time sensitive,” as a studio door sign reads, “Do Not Disturb ‘Til 06-06-25” with “Carter VI” written beneath.
This unconventional announcement follows Wayne’s earlier expression of feeling “hurt” after being overlooked for the Super Bowl halftime performance in favor of Kendrick Lamar. Despite the initial disappointment, Wayne and Lamar have since resolved any misunderstandings, with Wayne expressing his determination to deliver something even bigger.
Tha Carter VI is scheduled for release on June 6, 2025, continuing the legacy of the acclaimed series that began in 2004.
