Lil Baby Says He’s Open to Collaborating With Sabrina Carpenter

Lil Baby is looking beyond the familiar boundaries of hip-hop, and Sabrina Carpenter could be one of the pop stars he would consider joining forces with in the future.

The Atlanta rapper recently discussed his growing interest in experimenting with different musical styles during an October 29 appearance on The New York Times’ *Popcast*. As the conversation turned to collaborations between rappers and mainstream pop artists, Carpenter emerged as an example of the kind of unexpected partnership he would be willing to explore.

While Lil Baby acknowledged that he doesn’t currently have a song prepared for the pop singer, he expressed confidence that the two could find common creative ground if given the opportunity to work together.

His comments reflect an evolving approach to making music. Rather than limiting himself to familiar collaborators and established hip-hop sounds, the rapper appears increasingly interested in exploring what other genres and artists could bring to his recordings.

A potential partnership with Carpenter would connect two performers with distinctly different musical identities. Lil Baby has built his reputation through his melodic rap delivery and collaborations with major hip-hop artists, while Carpenter has established herself as one of contemporary pop’s prominent voices.

Although such a pairing might initially seem unexpected, collaborations between rappers and pop singers have produced significant commercial successes.

Dua Lipa’s remix of “Levitating,” featuring DaBaby, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021. More recently, Camila Cabello explored similar territory on her 2024 album *C,XOXO*, collaborating with Drake on “Hot Uptown” and “Uuugly” and with Playboi Carti on “I Luv It.”

Carpenter also has experience working with hip-hop artists. Her 2019 album *Singular Act II* included “I Can’t Stop Me,” featuring Saweetie, demonstrating that a rap collaboration would not be entirely new territory for the singer.

For now, however, a Lil Baby and Carpenter collaboration remains hypothetical. Neither artist has announced plans to record together, and there is no confirmed project involving the two.

Meanwhile, Lil Baby is focused on his next album, *Fresh*, scheduled for release November 6. The project will feature appearances from Future, Young Thug and Rylo Rodriguez, keeping its announced guest lineup firmly rooted in hip-hop.

His willingness to consider a collaboration with Carpenter nevertheless offers an interesting glimpse into his creative ambitions.

Whether the two artists eventually share a recording studio remains to be seen, but Lil Baby has made one thing clear: he is increasingly open to musical partnerships that listeners might not expect.
