Let’s Look Deeper at the Grammy’s Best New Artist Nominees

The 60th Grammy Award celebration is quickly approaching, January 28th 7:30 pm on CBS. One of the most competitive categories is the ‘Best New Artist’ category; let’s take a look at the nominees…

Alessia Cara is a Canadian singer/songwriter who has previously earned a Juno, Disney, Canadian Music, MTV, and ASCAP award, all before the age of 21. She’s had three Top 10 singles since 2015.

Khalid hails from Georgia, and his 2017 LP ‘American Teen has earned Grammy and additional award nominations. His debut album ‘American Teen’ hit number one on the R&B charts, all before the age of 22.

Lil Uzi Vert is 23 years old from Philadelphia and is a rising hip-hop star. He’s already earned a 2017 MTV honor and is currently nominated for four Billboard and two Grammy awards.

Julia Michaels hails from Davenport, IA and she’s been around longer than the other nominees. Her first album dropped in 2010, her latest in 2017 (Nervous System) which looks likes her biggest commercial success. She’s had greater success as a songwriter, having 16 tunes chart; 10 in the top 10 for other artists.

SZA was born in St. Louis and moved to New Jersey at an early age. Her 2017 LP ‘Ctrl’ hit the top three in the US, and US-R&B charts.
