Led Zeppelin and Others That Have Battled Music Litigation

The recent Led Zeppelin “Stairway to Heaven” lawsuit a while ago gave our team a reason to think about music litigation in general, and what other lawsuits might be fun to consider. Wow were we stunned to feel the legal heat; there are likely to be thousands of claims that were settled without legal actions being taken, but here are a few more public actions that will surprise you…

The Chiffons and writer of the song “He’s So Fine” charged George Harrison with wrong doing regarding his song “My Sweet Lord.” He was found to have unconsciously done a no no.

Huey Lewis and the News were sued by Ray Parker Jr, for the song “I Want a New Drug,” which Ray claimed was ripped off from his song “Ghostbusters” theme. The lawsuit was settled out of court.

The Isley Brothers wrote a song called “Love is a Wonderful Thing.” So did Michael Bolton. The Brothers sued Michael for plagiarism and won $5.4 million dollars. Yes, it was a wonderful thing.
