Lauren Alaina is gearing up for an exciting new role: motherhood! The American Idol alum, who was runner-up on Season 10, revealed she is expecting her first child with husband Cam Arnold. The announcement came in a deeply personal way—through her latest music video for “Those Kind of Women,” which honors the strong women who shaped her life.
“It’s all about the women who raised me,” Lauren shared with People on Jan. 22. “When we recorded this song, I wasn’t pregnant or even thinking about becoming pregnant.” But the timing of the music video turned out to be serendipitous, giving Lauren the perfect opportunity to showcase her growing baby bump while paying tribute to the women who influenced her.
A Love That’s Growing—Literally
The Road Less Traveled singer opened up about the emotional transformation she’s experienced since becoming pregnant. “I didn’t know I could love something I haven’t even held yet,” she said. “It’s like I was the Grinch, and my heart grew.”
Lauren and Cam, who tied the knot nearly a year ago in Nashville, are savoring this new chapter together. “My love for him grew the day we got married, and then finding out we were having a baby together—it’s been unbelievable,” Lauren said.
She also shared her excitement about seeing Cam step into the role of fatherhood. “He’s so obsessed with our animals; he’s a big nurturer. I knew one of the best things about being his wife would be parenting with him.”
A Bittersweet Blessing
Lauren’s joy is also intertwined with grief, as she reflected on the sudden passing of her father in July. “I think my dad passed away, got up in heaven, and was like, ‘Hey, we need to send something good down there,'” she said. “This baby has been such an unexpected blessing. It’s helped heal a lot of that grief—like a little piece of my dad will live on.”
As Lauren and Cam prepare to welcome their baby, Lauren remains focused on the bright future ahead. From baby kicks to little cowboy boots, this next chapter promises to be filled with love, growth, and new beginnings.
