Launching This Fall: ‘Dolly Parton’s America’

Dolly Parton, the beloved actress, philanthropist and country icon has stepped into a new realm of media: the world of podcasts. Dolly is the subject of a new podcast, a nine-part series titled “Dolly Parton’s America”. The project will be run by Jad Abumrad, a former Nashville resident and co-host of the Radiolab series.

“She’s been called the ‘Great Unifier’ for her rare ability to bring people together across divides,” Abumrad tweeted. “What does @DollyParton’s story tell us about America? I’ve been going back home to Nashville to figure it out.”

In another tweet, he explained that the term “Great Unifier” was taken from writer Sarah Smarsh’s series on Parton in the quarterly roots music journal No Depression.

The podcast is slated to be released this fall.Reach the official announcement of the project via Twitter here.
