Lamb of God is marking the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking album Ashes of the Wake with a grand celebration—a reissue featuring an array of new mixes, rare demos, and powerful live renditions. This iconic album, which cemented the band’s place in the pantheon of metal greats, is getting a modern makeover to honor its enduring legacy.
Set for release on August 30, the reissue includes contributions from prominent artists and bands such as HEALTH, Justin K Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu), Kublai Khan TX, and Malevolence. Among the standout tracks is “Another Nail For Your Coffin,” reimagined with fierce new energy by Kublai Khan TX and Malevolence. The song, which originally served as a bonus track, now gets its moment in the spotlight with an electrifying new version available for fans to stream.
Guitarist Mark Morton shared his enthusiasm for the track’s revival: “I’m excited to see ‘Another Nail For Your Coffin’ get reborn! This has always been a really cool, unique song in the Lamb of God catalog but it’s been overlooked since it was a bonus track. Matt and Alex both absolutely spit flames on this new, updated version, and gave it a ferocious modern energy. I’m glad to see this tune get some shine after all this time!”
Vocalist Randy Blythe also expressed his excitement about the project: “I’m not much for re-recording our existing material – old songs are a snapshot of where we were as a band at that time, for better or worse. But when the idea came up to have a guest vocalist re-do my parts on ‘Another Nail For Your Coffin,’ I was all for it, especially if we could get two younger heavy hitters to bring a fresh approach to the song. Anyone who has seen Malevolence and Kublai Khan TX know that Alex and Matt crush it – it’s an honor to have these dudes bring new life to the tune 20 years after we first recorded it.”
In addition to the reissue, Lamb of God is also hitting the road for a special anniversary tour. Joined by Mastodon, who are celebrating their own milestones, the tour promises to deliver a powerhouse performance that fans won’t want to miss. The tour and reissue together make this a monumental year for Lamb of God, as they reflect on their past achievements while pushing the boundaries of metal music forward.
As the release date approaches, fans can look forward to reliving the ferocity and innovation of Ashes of the Wake while discovering fresh interpretations that breathe new life into the album’s enduring tracks.
