Lamar Jackson Becomes NFL’s All-Time Leading Rushing Quarterback in Record-Breaking Performance

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has etched his name in NFL history, surpassing Michael Vick as the league’s all-time leading rushing quarterback. Jackson’s milestone moment came during a 31-2 blowout victory over the Houston Texans on Christmas Day, adding yet another accolade to his already storied career.

Running into the Record Books
Jackson entered the game needing just 87 yards to break Vick’s 13-year-old record of 6,109 rushing yards. With a 6-yard scramble in the third quarter, he not only surpassed Vick but also set up a 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end Mark Andrews.

“It feels unreal, to be honest with you,” Jackson said after the game. “Michael Vick is one of my favorite players. That’s just dope.”

Vick, who passed Randall Cunningham for the record in 2011, held the title for over a decade. But Jackson shattered expectations, achieving the milestone in just 102 games over seven seasons—far quicker than Vick’s 143 games across 13 years.

Blazing Speed and Dominance
Jackson wasn’t just breaking records—he was breaking away from defenders. His 48-yard touchdown run in the third quarter sealed the win for Baltimore and showcased his trademark explosiveness.

Clocking in at 21.25 mph, Jackson reached the fastest top speed of his career as a ball carrier. When informed of his blazing speed, Jackson joked, “For real? I was jogging.”

Despite running fewer times this season—averaging 8.4 carries per game, the lowest of his career—Jackson’s performance reminded critics of his dual-threat capabilities. He finished the game with 87 yards on four carries, proving that his legs are still a dangerous weapon.

Coach Harbaugh’s Praise
Ravens coach John Harbaugh didn’t hold back when celebrating Jackson’s accomplishment.

“Sometimes, I just shake my head and say, ‘That was really a great play,’” Harbaugh said. “I’ve seen a lot of great plays from Lamar Jackson. I’m proud of him—not just for his talent, but for everything he’s overcome to get here.”

Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley echoed the sentiment: “I’ve never seen someone run the ball like Lamar at quarterback—or honestly any other position. He makes defenders look slow.”

Playoff Push and Beyond
The victory pushed the Ravens to 11-5, bringing them one step closer to repeating as AFC North champions. With Jackson leading the charge, Baltimore is shaping up as a major contender heading into the playoffs.

While the game wasn’t perfect—Jackson admitted he missed Beyoncé’s halftime show to focus on preparing for the second half—his dedication clearly paid off.

A Legacy in Motion
Jackson’s four career rushing touchdowns of 40+ yards tie him with Kordell Stewart for the most by a quarterback since 1950. With no signs of slowing down, Jackson’s historic feat solidifies his reputation as one of the most electrifying players in NFL history.

“I’m grateful,” Jackson said. “But now, it’s time to win a championship.”
