Lady Gaga’s Blonde Comeback Turns Heads at Venice Film Festival

Lady Gaga once famously sang, “I’m as free as my hair,” and her recent hair transformations suggest she’s embracing that freedom. The 38-year-old pop icon arrived at the Venice Film Festival on Monday, Sept. 2, flaunting her iconic blonde locks, just weeks after surprising fans with a dark-haired look.

Gaga, who is in Venice to promote her upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux, was seen gliding through the city’s canals on a gondola with her fiancé, Michael Polansky. The couple shared tender moments, including hugs and kisses, as they made their way to the Hotel Cipriani dock.

Her return to blonde comes just 18 days after she revealed her dark hair transformation on Instagram on Aug. 15. She had been rocking the darker shade as recently as six days before her festival appearance. Prior to that, she had sported a platinum blonde look during her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Known for experimenting with various hair colors throughout her career, Gaga’s signature blonde has been a staple since her breakout single, “Just Dance,” in 2008. At the Venice Film Festival, she paired her blonde tresses with a chic black polka-dot dress, black sunglasses, and high heels. Her fiancé complemented her look with an all-black ensemble.

Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Gaga as Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix, premieres at the festival on Sept. 4 and hits theaters on Oct. 4. The Venice Film Festival runs from Aug. 28 to Sept. 7.
