Lady Bird Honored by New York Film Critics Circle

In what can only be described as one of the most interesting movies so far this year, the film ‘Lady Bird’ is generating a lot of Oscar buzz this week, having earned the ‘Best Film’ honor from the New York Film Critics Circle. This award is thought to be an early ‘tell’ for both Golden Globe and Academy Awards decisions made later in the year.

The New York Film Critics Circle awarded the Best Actor honor to Timothée Chalamet for his work in the film ‘Call Me by Your Name.’ The same committee chose Tiffany Haddish for Best Supporting Actress in the film ‘Girls Trip.’ The animated film ‘Coco’ got the nod for best animated feature. Willem Defoe, the longtime actor, earned a Best Supporting Actor in the film, ‘The Florida Project.’

Although the honors have already been announced, the actual New York Film Critics Circle award ceremony will be held in New York City on January 3rd.
