Kristin Chenoweth, the original Glinda from Broadway’s Wicked, recently attended an early screening of the new Wicked movie in New York City and couldn’t contain her excitement. Chenoweth shared her heartfelt reaction on Instagram, describing the film as “so good, so special,” and adding, “People are not going to be well when they see this film.”
Chenoweth joined Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo—who play Glinda and Elphaba, respectively—at the screening, alongside members of the current Broadway cast and notable alumni. Grande and Erivo were thrilled by Chenoweth’s reaction, with Grande calling the night “the most special” and Erivo referring to Chenoweth as “the queen mother.” Director Jon M. Chu, Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz, and Gregory Maguire, author of the original novel, were also present, as well as former Wicked cast members.
In her Instagram post, Chenoweth described feeling “moved, emotional, happy, filled with joy,” and urged fans to watch the movie when it premieres in theaters on November 27. Wicked: Part One is slated to be followed by Part Two in November 2025, continuing the adaptation of the beloved story about the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda, her unlikely friend.
Earlier this month, Grande and Erivo held another screening for the Kardashian-Jenner family at Kim Kardashian’s home. Kim shared her enthusiasm on social media, calling it the “most magical pajama party” and sharing how the film made everyone “laugh and cry.”
With its dedicated fan base and the stars’ glowing praise, Wicked is set to be a cinematic experience fans won’t want to miss.
