In the Season 5 finale of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian delved into her newfound commitment to therapy, revealing a candid moment with her sister, Kourtney. The episode began with Kim visiting Kourtney in Los Angeles, where she confessed that Kourtney had been right about the benefits of therapy all along.
Kim admitted in a confessional, “Kourtney is back from Australia, and I’ve been waiting patiently to tell her about my therapy journey. I always would say as a kid that Kourtney did everything first and I would just copy her, and like it’s kinda true.”
During their conversation, Kim reflected on her past relationships and how her resistance to change impacted them. “When someone tells me not to do something that I planned on, I physically get like, ‘you’re getting in my way,’” Kim shared. She referenced an ex, saying, “When [censored] started to tell me, ‘You work so much. Why don’t you just take the week off?’ That was the beginning of the end.” Though she didn’t name the ex, it hinted at the possibility of Pete Davidson, her first boyfriend after her split with Kanye West.
Kim’s journey in therapy has led to revelations about her behavior, especially her calm demeanor, which her therapist identified as a trauma response. “I would always say how calm I am and that’s my superpower, but my therapist felt like it’s a trauma response,” Kim explained. This realization was a significant turning point for her.
Kourtney, who has long been an advocate for therapy, supported Kim’s decision. “The biggest thing is just getting to know yourself and why you make certain choices,” Kourtney advised. Kim acknowledged the impact therapy could have on her relationships with her children and future partner, saying, “You can have better relationships with your kids and your future partner if you figure your s**t out.”
The episode highlighted the complexities of the Kardashian family dynamics and their individual paths toward personal growth. Kim’s commitment to therapy marks a significant step in her journey, as she strives for better self-understanding and healthier relationships.
