Musician Kid Rock candidly acknowledged his role in the growing political divide in the United States during a wild, booze-filled interview with Rolling Stone. Known for embracing conservative politics and his friendship with former President Trump, Kid Rock has become a polarizing figure over the past decade.
“I’m one of the polarizing people, no question,” Kid Rock told Rolling Stone. “Sometimes I b—h about other people, then I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, why don’t you shut the f–k up too?’”
The musician admitted he has a “rich-guy issue” because he can’t help but voice his opinions. “No f—s left. I’m not going to get it right every time, but I know my heart’s right. I want the best for this country,” he said.
Kid Rock, who has performed with the Confederate flag for decades, claimed that no one cared until “all this woke s–t started happening.” He explained his use of the flag was inspired by Lynyrd Skynyrd and its aesthetic appeal.
Several people close to Kid Rock expressed their disapproval of his political involvement, questioning how he shifted from opposing political division to becoming a vocal figure in conservative politics.
Initially hesitant to speak with Rolling Stone, Kid Rock eventually agreed to the interview, during which he got “drunk and belligerent,” according to reporter David Peisner. Kid Rock acknowledged the risks of publicly supporting Trump, saying, “I knew that could be a career ender. But I was betting that there were a lot of like-minded people out there.”
Despite the potential backlash, Kid Rock defended his support for Trump, whom he considers a good friend. “That mother—-r likes to win. He likes to cheat in his f—–g golf game. I want that guy on my team,” he said. “I want the guy who goes, ‘I’m going to fight with you.’”
One of the more notorious moments in Kid Rock’s political journey was his viral protest against Bud Light, where he shot cans in response to the company’s perceived “woke” initiatives. Reflecting on the incident during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, he humorously described it as “throwing a tantrum with a machine gun.”
Kid Rock’s outspoken nature and political alignment continue to spark debate, highlighting the musician’s complex and often controversial presence in today’s polarized America.
