Fresh off his gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Kevin Durant has added another achievement to his list: becoming a minority investor in French soccer powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Durant, a two-time NBA champion and 14-time All-Star, announced his investment through Boardroom, his media and entertainment company, on Monday. The deal, facilitated by Arctos Partners—who acquired a 12.5% stake in PSG in December—places Durant’s investment in the “single-digit millions.”
The move was hinted at over the weekend when PSG shared a video of Durant touring the club’s facilities, just hours before he led Team USA to victory against France in the Olympic basketball final.
This isn’t Durant’s first venture into soccer ownership. In 2020, he became a minority owner of MLS’s Philadelphia Union, and in 2022, he expanded his portfolio by investing in NWSL’s NJ/NY Gotham FC. Additionally, Durant holds a stake in Major League Pickleball’s Brooklyn Aces.
Paris Saint-Germain, one of Europe’s most successful soccer clubs, has dominated Ligue 1, winning the last six titles. Valued at $4.05 billion by Sportico, PSG is the seventh most valuable soccer club globally. The club is primarily owned by Qatar Sports Investments, which took control in 2011.
Although PSG is entering a transitional phase following Kylian Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid, the club remains a formidable force in French soccer.
