Actor Kevin Costner’s wife, Christine Baumgartner, has filed for divorce, according to court documents obtained by People magazine.
Baumgartner, a model and handbag designer, married Costner in 2004 and they have three children together: Cayden, 14, Hayes, 12, and Grace, 11. The couple has not yet commented on the divorce filing.
Costner, 67, and Baumgartner, 47, met in 1999 when she was working as a handbag designer and he was seeking a new design for a film he was directing. They began dating in 2000 and tied the knot four years later in a lavish wedding ceremony at his ranch in Aspen, Colorado.
This will be Costner’s second divorce. He was previously married to Cindy Costner from 1978 to 1994 and they have three children together.
The news of their split comes as a surprise to fans of the couple, who were known for their private and low-key lifestyle. Costner has been busy with his acting career, most recently appearing in the television series “Yellowstone,” while Baumgartner has focused on her fashion line and being a mom.
It remains to be seen how the divorce will impact their family and careers, but we wish them both the best during this difficult time.
