Kesha and more 2019 Webby Award Winners

On Tuesday morning, April 23rd, the winners for the 23rd annual Webby Awards were announced. Among those winners are Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino, Kesha, Ellen DeGeneres and Ryan Reynolds have been selected this year by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

The upcoming Webby Awards ceremony will celebrate the best work on the Internet. Hosted by actress and comedian Jenny Slate, the 23rd Annual Webby Awards will take place May 13 at Cipriani Wall Street.

Highlights of the 2019 Webby Awards winners include:

This year’s Special Achievement Winners are:

– Webby Video Person of the Year: Issa Rae for her diverse body of work through Issa Rae Productions, and her direct use of the Internet to highlight new and original content.

– Webby Social Movement of the Year, accepted by Greta Thunberg for spearheading the #FridaysForFuture enviornmental activism campaign and using the Internet to bring attention to climate change.

– Webby Artist of the Year: Tierra Whack for her innovative and artful execution of creating 60-second Instagram videos for her debut album, “Whack World.”

– Webby Special Achievement: Hasan Minhaj for his entertaining work in his informative and successful Netflix talk show series, “Patriot Act.”

– Webby Entrepreneur of the Year: Emily Weiss for her success as the foudner and CEO of the $1.2 billion company, Glossier, which is a direct-to-consumer brand that utlizes the Internet to emphasize community engagement.
