Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” Ties R&B/Hip-Hop Record, Cementing Chart History

Kendrick Lamar and SZA have officially made history—again. Their powerful collaboration “Luther” has tied the all-time record for most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, clocking in its 22nd consecutive week at the top.

The record was previously held solely by Lamar’s own “Not Like Us,” which dominated the chart throughout his headline-making lyrical clash with Drake earlier this year. Now, “Luther” joins that elite tier, signaling not just a continuation of Lamar’s hot streak but also a massive comeback moment for SZA, whose “Kill Bill” held the crown before being dethroned.

For the week of May 31, “Luther” posted 16.7 million streams, 60.5 million in radio impressions, and 2,000 sales—modest dips, but enough to retain its lead across R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts. It also logs its 22nd week at No. 1 on Hot Rap Songs.

Though it just relinquished the Billboard Hot 100 throne to Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want,” “Luther’s” 13-week reign was still the longest ever for both artists.

With this milestone, Kendrick and SZA have firmly cemented themselves as genre-defining forces. And as Luther continues to echo across playlists and airwaves, one thing is clear: they’re not done yet.
