Kelly Clarkson’s Countrified Take on Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” Wows Fans

Kelly Clarkson once again proved her versatility and knack for reimagining hits during her Kellyoke segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show this Wednesday, November 13. The Grammy-winning powerhouse delivered a stunning country-inspired rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s chart-topping single, “Please Please Please,” and fans are begging her to release it officially.

A Dolly Parton Twist
Clarkson transformed the infectious pop track, originally produced by Jack Antonoff, into a heartfelt crooning country ballad inspired by Dolly Parton. After her soulful performance, Clarkson shared the inspiration behind her unique arrangement.

“Ever since I heard this song, for some reason I hear Dolly Parton singing it as well,” she explained. “It lends itself to country to me, so I asked my band if we could make more of a country version of it, ‘cause we have the amazing pop version already.”

She praised Carpenter’s songwriting, saying, “I love that song, and I love when a song is so good that you can kind of go into different genres with it. But thank you, Sabrina, for that song, and thank you for letting me sing it.”

Sabrina Carpenter’s Smash Hit
“Please Please Please” marked Carpenter’s first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 following its release in June as the second single from her album Short n’ Sweet. It became a defining track of Carpenter’s career, earning her a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year and solidifying her place among pop’s elite.

The song also gained attention for its captivating music video, featuring Carpenter’s boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan, and received glowing praise from her longtime friend Joey King. “I just can’t stop singing ‘Please Please Please’ … get out of my head,” King joked in an interview with PEOPLE.

Fans Call for an Official Release
Clarkson’s country version has already sparked excitement online, with fans clamoring for the performance to be released as a studio recording. Clarkson is no stranger to reinventing beloved songs; her Kellyoke covers have become a highlight of her talk show, showcasing her incredible vocal talent and genre-crossing creativity.

Whether or not Clarkson will officially release her take on “Please Please Please,” her performance further underscores the timeless appeal of Carpenter’s smash hit.
