Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert Deliver a Harmonious Surprise

Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert proved their voices were a perfect match when they teamed up for a stunning duet on the Sept. 24 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. The country star, 40, and Clarkson, 42, bonded over their mutual love for rising artist Chappell Roan before performing a soulful cover of her hit song, “Good Luck, Babe!”

The duet came after Clarkson asked Lambert which artists she’s currently listening to, and Lambert eagerly named both Lainey Wilson and Roan, 26.

“My brother and his husband introduced me to her music, and I became obsessed,” Lambert shared, referring to Roan. “I love how authentic and brave she is.”

Before beginning the performance, Clarkson echoed her admiration for Roan, saying, “I hope she thinks we’re cool too. We love you!”

The two powerhouse vocalists then launched into the song, seamlessly harmonizing over its midtempo melody. Clarkson belted out the high notes, while Lambert added her signature country flair to the chorus.

“You can kiss a hundred boys in bars / Shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling,” they sang together. “Good luck, babe, well, good luck, babe.”

Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” has been climbing the charts, hitting No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, making their heartfelt cover all the more special.

Lambert also shared some insight into her latest album Postcards from Texas, which includes the song “Dammit Randy,” co-written with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, during the COVID-19 lockdown.
