Beyond Meat is rolling out new products just in time for grilling season. Last week the meatless brand announced it is expanding its Beyond IV product line, including its fourth-generation Beyond Sausage, which is now available at grocery stores nationwide.
“The new Beyond Sausage is incredibly juicy, meaty, and delicious, and I love that it’s made with heart-healthy avocado oil, helping to lower the saturated fat to just 2 grams per link,” Joy Bauer, author, registered dietitian, and Beyond Meat nutrition advisor, shared in a statement. “Plus, it has less sodium than the previous version and features a simplified ingredient list.”
As Food & Wine reports, the company states that the new sausage comes with an “enhanced flavor and a meatier texture” to give already avid fans something new to look forward to and those who are vegetarian curious something to try too. And it’s that second group — the new customer — who may be critical for the brand’s growth after the brand reported a net revenue decrease of 30.5% in the second quarter of 2023. At the time, Ethan Brown, the president and CEO of the company, shared in a conference call with investors that the company was struggling to connect with new customers because the brand wasn’t being perceived as healthy. So, he shared that Beyond Meat would be working to better explain its “clean and simple” ingredients.
“We’re going to be much more aggressive in our marketing,” Brown said, according to the Associated Press. “It is an education issue. The facts are there. The health benefits of our products are very strong.” And it seems he’s delivering on this promise, as the company also noted in its new press release that the next-generation sausage is made with avocado oil, has a “simplified ingredients list,” and has 66% less saturated fat than the previous version. And, as the brand noted, it’s a good pairing for, well, everything.
“From classic sausage, peppers, and onions, to the perfect protein-topper for pastas, salads, and more, these juicy sausages grill gorgeously and sear super well thanks to the addition of avocado oil,” Diana Stavaridis, the senior culinary manager at Beyond Meat added.
To celebrate the new sausage and the growing line of Beyond IV products, the company is also introducing its first-ever cookbook, “Serve Love.” It says it is “a collection of heart-healthy Beyond Meat recipes certified by the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check program.” Recipes include the new Beyond Sausage, along with the Beyond Burger, Beyond Beef, and Beyond Steak. The cookbook is available for free on the Beyond Meat website now.
Fans can pick up the new sausage at Kroger, Albertsons, Publix, Whole Foods Market, Sprouts and other retailers across the nation right now.
