Addison Rae is no more—at least professionally. The TikTok sensation-turned-singer has officially dropped her last name and will now go by simply “Addison.”
The change coincides with the release of her self-titled debut album, Addison, which dropped on June 6. In a June 8 appearance on Quenlin Blackwell’s Feeding Starving Celebrities YouTube series, the 24-year-old explained her decision.
“I think I’ve grown past being called Addison Rae,” she said, noting that simplifying her name felt more authentic—and more practical. “I’m just tired of signing ‘Addison Rae.’ It’s really long,” she joked. “It’s going back to the roots, really.”
Despite the name shift, Addison reassured fans that she embraces her past. “Whoever knew me as Addison Rae will always know me as that,” she said.
Addison joins a growing trend of public figures tweaking their names to forge independent identities. From Malia Obama adopting “Malia Ann” in Hollywood to Shiloh Jolie’s rebrand as Shi Joli, young stars are increasingly distancing themselves from legacy names to carve their own paths.
With a fresh name and a fresh album, Addison is signaling a new chapter—one that’s entirely her own.
