Produced as part of Playing for Change’s Songs Around the World initiative, John Paul Jones has recently re-recorded Led Zeppelin’s 1971 version of “When the Levee Breaks.” The former Zeppelin bassist collaborated on the project with 17 musicians from around the world.
Jones was joined by Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, husband-and-wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sámi vocalist Elle Márjá Eira, Māori artist Mihirangi, Congo musician Mermans Mosengo, and Nigerian percussionist Sikiru Adepoju.
All money raised through the song will benefit multiple organizations including Conservation International, American Rivers, WWF, Reverb, and the Playing for Change Foundation.
