Jimmy Garoppolo Secures Deal to Stay in San Francisco

According to cbssports.com, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo won’t be playing for another team in 2022. Monday, Garoppolo came to agreement with the 49ers on a restructured one-year deal that will ensure that he stays in San Francisco. The contract includes both a no-trade and no-tag clause as reported by ESPN. NFL Media reported his new contract is worth $6.5 million fully guaranteed and incentives that can make his money grow to close to $16 million. Garoppolo threw for 3,810 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 15 games last season, going 9-6 as the starter. With losing to the Rams in the NFC Championship Game, the 49ers gave up a lot in order to select Lance at Number three overall last year to take on the starting position. However, the deal to have Garoppolo as a backup reportedly makes him the highest paid backup QB.
