Jessica Biel, 42, has reportedly stepped away from her role in the upcoming series The Good Daughter. The actress was originally slated to star in and produce the adaptation of Karin Slaughter’s novel, but according to Deadline, she has officially exited the project.
No details have been released regarding the reason for her departure from the series, which had already received a straight-to-series order from Peacock earlier this year.
The Good Daughter follows sisters Charlotte and Samantha Quinn, whose lives were shattered by a night of violence 28 years earlier. Biel was set to portray Charlotte, a lawyer forced to confront her past when another attack devastates their small town. As the story unfolds, Charlotte and Samantha are left questioning whether the cost of being “the good daughter” was worth it.
Despite her exit from this project, a new lead is expected to be announced soon. Biel remains attached to another book-to-series adaptation, The Better Sister, and was last seen filming in New York City in July.
Fans of Biel can look forward to her starring in this new project as details about The Good Daughter continue to unfold.
