Skims’ latest celebrity-packed campaign brings back two ’90s bombshells, Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra.
As Fashionista reports, to promote the brand’s most recent swim drop, McCarthy and Electra recreated the famous posters that launched sex symbols into the pop culture zeitgeist. McCarthy’s fame skyrocketed after being named Playboy’s Playmate of the Year in 1995, while Electra had plenty of magazine spreads and and ripped-out posters of her own, most notably from “Baywatch.” In the spirit of thee ’90s photoshoots, the Skims campaign is staged in the sexiest place of all: the car wash.
Though McCarthy and Electra were photographed together in the 1990s, this is certainly the most elaborate collaborative shoot of theirs thus far. In the campaign, the two model now-signature Skims swim styles, including the Triangle Top, Dipped Tie Bikini Bottom, Scoop Neck One Piece and more.
“Being reunited with Jenny for this Skims campaign was such a dream,” Electra said, in a statement. “Not only does she still look incredible, she also brought the best energy to set and was my biggest cheerleader. I’m so happy we’re able to share in this iconic moment together!”
With the two stars posing alongside guitars, ice cream cones and plenty of suds, the campaign aims to spotlight that “confidence and sexiness cannot be confined,” particularly to an age, according to a press release.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of Skims’ latest campaign,” said McCarthy. “The energy on set was incredible, especially shooting alongside Carmen, who looks amazing! It felt like we were back in the 90s, and years later we’re still having fun!”
