A few days ago we learned that Tom Hanks will star in a movie portraying Mister Rogers, and now we learn that in the same retro vein, pop star Jennifer Hudson will star in a biopic that deals with the life and times of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. The news was shared by music mogul Clive Davis while at a party at Jay-Z’s pre-Grammy event.
Aretha is the soul of music, growing up in the Moor City, singing in her father’s church choir, eventually signing with Berry Gordy and Motown Music, releasing countless number ones like “Respect,” “Rock Steady,” “Think,” and “Chain of Fools.’
Check this out… She has 17 Grammy’s, three Special Grammy’s including a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ three American Music Awards, the Presidential Medal of Honor, Kennedy Center Honors, admission in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her own Hollywood Star, and having a street named after her in Detroit.
The Jennifer Hudson – Aretha Franklin biopic will begin shooting on location this year.
