Jennifer Aniston Shuts Down Tabloid Rumors Linking Her to Barack Obama

Jennifer Aniston has had her fair share of run-ins with the tabloids, but the latest rumor that surfaced is something even she found hilarious. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Morning Show star addressed a particularly wild story involving none other than former President Barack Obama.

When Kimmel presented her with a magazine cover claiming to reveal “The Truth About Jen & Barack,” complete with subheadings suggesting Michelle Obama had been “betrayed” as Aniston stole the former president’s attention, the actress couldn’t help but laugh.

“Of all the calls you get from your publicist, where you’re just like, ‘Oh no, what’s it gonna be?'” Aniston shared, poking fun at the moment. “Or the email saying, you know, some cheesy tabloid is gonna make up a story, and then it’s that.”

She admitted she wasn’t angry about the tabloid’s wild invention, joking, “I was not mad at it.”

However, Aniston, 55, made sure to set the record straight, confirming the rumor was completely baseless. “I have met him once,” she said, clearing up the speculation about Obama, 63. “I know Michelle more than him.” Kimmel, always ready with a quip, followed up by asking if there was something going on between her and the former first lady. “That is not true,” Aniston replied, smiling.

The timing of the conversation was quite coincidental, as Thursday, October 3, marked the 32nd wedding anniversary of Barack and Michelle Obama. The couple has frequently shared their love and admiration for each other on social media. For last year’s anniversary, Michelle, 60, wrote, “I love going through life with you by my side.” Barack echoed those sentiments, calling Michelle “brilliant, kind, funny, and beautiful.”

As for Aniston, who was previously married to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux, she has expressed openness to dating but isn’t particularly keen on marriage. In a 2022 interview with Allure, she candidly admitted, “Never say never, but I don’t have any interest,” while adding that a relationship, when it comes along, would be nice. She’s even shared moments of vulnerability, saying, “It would be wonderful to come home and fall into somebody’s arms and say, ‘That was a tough day.'”

But for the Friends star, dealing with tabloid rumors has become second nature. In a 2015 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, she explained her approach to handling false stories, saying, “Just don’t pay attention. There was a period where I was hell-bent on saying, ‘That’s not true, that’s not right, that’s not fair.’ And now I just think you have to let it roll off your back.”

When it comes to the latest outlandish claims of a secret relationship with Barack Obama, it’s clear that Aniston is choosing to laugh it off, proving that not even a cheesy tabloid headline can steal her sense of humor.
