During his set at the Faster Horses Festival on Friday, July 19, Jelly Roll surprised the audience by welcoming country and CCM singer-songwriter Anne Wilson to join him on stage for a special performance. Together, they delivered an electrifying rendition of “Save Me,” infusing the gospel-tinged song with an extra shot of urgency and fervor.
“Save Me” is originally a Grammy-nominated duet between Jelly Roll and reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year, Lainey Wilson. However, Lainey was unable to attend the festival. Jelly Roll addressed the audience, saying, “Lainey Wilson could not be here tonight, but I would like to welcome to the stage one of the greatest people I’ve ever met and her name is Miss Anne Wilson.” As Anne began singing the lead, the packed festival audience erupted in cheers.
Anne Wilson, who recently earned a top five Billboard Christian Airplay hit with “Strong,” shared a video clip of the performance on TikTok, captioning it, “When Jelly Roll asks you last minute to sing with him and you say YES!” Lainey Wilson also responded on TikTok, giving her blessing to Anne’s rendition, writing, “My Wilson girl. Love you. Keep on shining that LIGHT like you do.”
Anne Wilson first gained prominence in 2021 with her song “My Jesus,” which topped Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart for six weeks. The two Wilsons also collaborated on “Praying Woman,” included in Anne Wilson’s recent album, Rebel. The album blends country and Contemporary Christian Music, debuting at No. 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and topping the Top Christian Albums chart for three weeks.
The Faster Horses Festival, held July 19-21 in Brooklyn, Michigan, featured a stellar lineup including Lainey Wilson, Hardy, Cody Johnson, Old Dominion, Riley Green, Ernest, and more. Anne Wilson’s surprise appearance with Jelly Roll added a memorable highlight to the festival’s Friday night performances.
