Japan’s Seiya Suzuki’s Injury Will Keep Him Out of World Baseball Classic

Japanese Baseball player and outfielder, Seiya Suzuki of the Chicago Cubs is going to miss the upcoming World Baseball Classic due to an injury. His injury was confirmed on Tuesday, by Nippon Professional Baseball.

Meanwhile, The World Baseball Classic starts on March 8th and ends on March 21st. While the Cubs told Japanese baseball officials that Suzuki had a left oblique injury, that is often described as a side strain. Suzuki is training with the Chicago Cubs in Arizona.

Suzuki was on Japan’s roster for the 2017 WBC and played on Japan’s gold medal team in the one year delayed Tokyo Olympics. Japan will open against China at the Tokyo Dome on March 9th.
