After a 14-year hiatus, the original lineup of Los Angeles alt-rock legends Jane’s Addiction made a highly anticipated return to the stage, reuniting for a historic hometown performance. The band, which played a pivotal role in shaping the alternative rock landscape with landmark albums like Nothing’s Shocking (1988) and Ritual de lo Habitual (1990), took the stage at the sold-out YouTube Theater, delivering a night to remember.
Reenergized by the return of guitarist Dave Navarro, the iconic lineup—featuring bassist Eric Avery, drummer Stephen Perkins, and the charismatic Perry Farrell—commanded the spotlight with a 14-song set that resonated deeply with a multigenerational audience. Farrell, reflecting on the night’s energy, dubbed it the “Eternal LA,” capturing the timeless spirit of the city’s alternative underground scene.
While the evening had all the makings of a nostalgic trip, Jane’s Addiction proved they were anything but a relic of the past. Opening with the slow burn of “Kettle Whistle,” the band delivered both fan favorites and surprises, seamlessly blending hits like “Jane Says” and “Stop!” with deeper cuts such as “Pigs In Zen” and “Ted, Just Admit It…”.
The set also featured the band’s latest single, “Imminent Redemption,” which fit naturally among the decades-old classics. Rather than being a token new track, it underscored the band’s enduring relevance and creative vitality.
As Avery’s driving basslines, Perkins’ dynamic drumming, and Navarro’s electrifying guitar work combined with Farrell’s unmistakable presence, it was clear why this lineup remains definitive. Jane’s Addiction’s return to LA was more than a reunion; it was a powerful statement of the band’s lasting influence and exciting future.
