Normally we share the weekend box office results on Monday, but given Monday was a Holiday, we’ll start here. The movie “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” shown in 4,2000+ screens, has already become the highest grossing film of 2017, earning over $1 billion dollars since its release, adding an additional $25 million this past Christmas weekend.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” placed in over 3,700 venues, came in 2nd this past weekend, earning nearly $20 million. Pitch Perfect 3, shown in over 3,000 screens, earned over $8 million for the weekend, coming in 3rd and totaling over $55 million since it released a few weeks ago.
“The Greatest Showman,” the family favorites Ferdinand and Coco, Downsizing with Matt Damon, All the Money in the World, Darkest Hour, and Father Figures rounded out the top-earning moves this Christmas weekend.
Over a million fans flocked Times Square this New Year Eve, ringing in the New Year; Maria Carey was wonderful, as were all the hosts and celebrities on each of the networks.
