Is Snoop Dogg releasing his own Breakfast Cereal?

It’s kind of hard to imagine Snoop Dogg ever having a bad day, let alone a bad week, but his August is definitely off to a good start. The California rapper’s latest single, “Bad Decisions” debuted at number six on the list of Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs, and now he has announced that he’s about to break into the breakfast cereal game too.

Snoop, a.k.a. Calvin Broadus, is releasing a brightly colored, marshmallow filled cereal called Snoop Loopz. That’s right, Snoop Loopz. The Loopz — whose mascot is a cartoon dog, obviously — are produced through the rapper’s Broadus Foods label, which is run by Percy “Master P” Miller. “MORE Corn, MORE Flavor & MORE Marshmallows that’s what separates us from the Rest,” Master P tweeted on Saturday. “If you like Fruit Loops then you will LOVE SnoopLoopz!!”

Neither Snoop Dogg nor Master P have provided any information beyond the imminent arrival of the Loopz; as of now, the Snoop Loopz website doesn’t explain when they’ll be available in stores, or which retailers might stack their shelves with Loopz. The website for Broadus Foods says that in addition to being a “family-owned food product company,” it is also a “a movement to making a difference in the lives of families and communities” through its support of charities like the Pasadena, California based Door of Hope.

“Broadus Foods Founder Calvin Broadus and CEO Percy Miller are committed to inspire economic empowerment by adding diversity into the grocery stores industry and creating opportunities for minority-owned food products and brands,” the website reads. “The culture has crowned the two iconic legends, ‘Kings of Breakfast Foods’ for the world famous Mama Snoop breakfast foods consisting of cereal, oatmeal, grits, pancake mix and syrup.”

Despite the scant details about Snoop Loopz, this isn’t the first foray into the food and beverage space for either entrepreneur. According to Food & Wine, Snoop has previously partnered with Dunkin Donuts on the plant-based Beyond D-O-Double-G breakfast sandwich; he’s released a strawberry-infused gin called Indoggo Gin; he’s got his own wine; and earlier this year, he filed a trademark for “Snoop Doggs,” which may very well be the name of an upcoming line of sausages or hot dogs.

Meanwhile, Master P is a co-founder of the Rap Snacks brand (and has brought Snoop Dogg on as a brand ambassador) and he launched LA Great Snow Cones earlier this summer. Master P has also teased his own line of rice, pancake mix, and assorted baking products

Hopefully Snoop Dogg will let us know where (and how) we can get our paws on a box of Snoop Loopz. He’ll probably have another dozen products on the market by then, too.
