Four decades after it first set the heavy metal world ablaze, Iron Maiden’s Live After Death is rising from the grave once more. Parlophone Records has announced a deluxe limited-edition 2LP color vinyl reissue of the iconic 1985 live album—an absolute staple for any metalhead’s collection.
Available now for pre-order, this collector’s gem features the thunderous 2015 remastered audio wrapped in the hauntingly familiar gatefold artwork that defined an era. But this isn’t just a wax nostalgia trip—fans are in for a trove of extras.
Inside, collectors will find a replica of the original 24-page World Slavery Tour program and a throwback tour pass. A glossy new 12-page booklet, Rime And Punishment: Celebrating 40 Years Of Live After Death, adds fresh insight, featuring conversations with band members and crew, including bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain, long-time manager Rod Smallwood, and the band’s visual mastermind Derek Riggs.
Reflecting on the whirlwind that was the mid-80s, Harris recalls a time of non-stop touring and recording: “Rod was cracking the old whip… You think you’re invincible. That’s the way to crack it.” And crack it they did—Live After Death is still considered by many the definitive heavy metal live album.
Most of the tracks were recorded during the band’s explosive run at Long Beach Arena in California, March 1985, with the rest taken from their fiery October 1984 performances at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. All this took place during the band’s monumental World Slavery Tour—an epic spanning nearly a year with 187 blistering shows worldwide.
With this new reissue, Iron Maiden isn’t just revisiting the past—they’re immortalizing it in glorious color and sound.
