Design inspiration can come from anywhere, but pop culture references and social media influencers seem to be playing more and more of a leading role in home and interior design trends these days.
According to Thumbtack’s Top Home and Interior Design Trends for 2025, social media influencers and celebrity homes are having the strongest influence on home design trends, followed by DIY videos on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok for homeowners looking for budget-friendly, creative ideas.
When asked about which platforms will influence design trends the most, Instagram led the way (71%), followed closely by Pinterest (67%) and TikTok (44%). Some of the top home interior design influencers currently on Instagram are Justina Blakeney, Joanna Gaines, Malene Barnett, and Nick Olsen.
Whether it’s on media (HGTV) or social media, there are many young influencers making their mark in the field. From bloggers to DIY interior design professionals; interior stylists to home design aficionados, if you’re on the lookout for inspiration in the interior design industry, make sure you’re following some of the world’s most well-known (for good reason!) interior design professionals.
Movies and TV series will also continue to spark design inspiration. Whether it’s Bridgerton bringing back romanticism, the “Rich Ranch” of Yellowstone, Barbie continuing to splash pink across bedrooms or Wicked inspiring the rich jewel tones of emerald glam, pop culture will continue to infiltrate our homes’ interior design.
