The 2017 inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame were announced not too long ago and the list is quite impressive. Honored are Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr., Peter Cetera, Robert Lamm and James Pankow of Chicago, and Jay-Z, the first rapper to be included in this impressive Hall.
This Hall was founded in 1969 by music publishers Abe Olman and Howie Richmond and songwriter Johnny Mercer, their intent was to recognize the writers of the songs made famous by singers and band. Among the impressive list include Jon Bon Jovi, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Elton John, John Lennon, Carole King, Stephen Stills, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Sting, John Oates and many more.
The 2017 induction ceremony will take place June 15 in New York.
