Iggy Pop Revealed That He Was Once Asked To Join AC/DC

Iggy Pop recently revealed that he was once asked to take part in the iconic rock band AC/DC. In a recent interview where he was promoting his latest studio album, Every Loser, he recalled being asked by the manager of the Australian rock band.

Pop recalled, “They had a manager many years ago, when I hadn’t reformed the Stooges, I hadn’t moved to England, And this guy said, ‘Are you interested in joining AC/DC?’ They were looking for a singer. I listened to their record. I thought, I can’t fit that bill. I wasn’t like, ugh, I don’t like them. It was quite well made. They do careful work, but I’m not what they needed.”

Iggy Pop is releasing Every Loser Today through Atlantic and the album’s Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum executive producer Andrew Watt’s new label, Gold Tooth Records. He has already teased two of the album’s tracks, including the album’s lead single and opening song, “Frenzy,” that features Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith on the drums, GUns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan on bass and Watt on guitar.
