One of our favorite 760s and 80s icons, Huey Lewis appeared in a video with Jimmy Kimmel, sharing the exciting news that there’s going to be a Broadway musical, inspired by the band, called ‘The Heart of Rock and Roll’ coming soon.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a trend, rock and pop stars becoming the subjects of musicals; the Go Go’s, Bee Gees, and the late Donna Summer have inspired scripts of their life’s stories on stage. Now it’s Huey Lewis and the News’ turn, although Huey denies that it’s autobiographical.
The Huey Lewis musical will be called ‘The Heart of Rock and Roll’ and incorporate all the band’s top hits, “The Power of Love,” “If This is It,” “Hip to Be Square” and more. The musical is not the first Broadway experience for Huey; he appeared in ‘Chicago’ for a few years back in 2005 and 2006. There were no further details about the musical The Heart of Rock and Roll’ regarding cast, delivery date etc.
