Hot Guitars, Big Money

Earlier in the year, we wrote about an auction in New York that would be offering guitars from some of the most famous musicians of our time. Here’s how that “Music Icons” New York City, Julien’s Auctions Hard Rock Café went down…

George Harrison and Robbie Robertson’s (The Band) guitars both sold for more than $400,000. Robbie Robertson’s 1965 Fender Telecaster, a guitar used by the legendary Bob Dylan during Bob’s ‘going electric” tour, was auctioned off for nearly $500,000.

George Harrison’s Hofner Club 40 model guitar that he played for nearly 10 years was auctioned off for nearly $450,000, Elvis Presley’s leather belt used on stage for a tour sold for $350,000, a Jag-Stang guitar designed specifically for Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain sold for $94,000, and a 1963 Epiphone Granada once owned by Eric Clapton as a member of the 60s Yardbirds fetched $45,000. Finally, the late Prince’s Yellow Cloud guitar was auctioned off for $225,000.
