Hip-Hop and R&B Acts Make Billboard’s Top Earner’s List

Billboard recently released their top earners for last year and among the top 50 are a whole lot of great artists. We see plenty of R&B and hip-hop acts on the list. Let’s take a look…

The highest earner from either of these two very similar genres is Drake. He made $37.3 million last year in large part because of streaming ($18.1 million) and touring ($13.6 million). He sits at number four on the chart.

Kanye West did quite well in 2016 even with some hiccups at the end. In total he made $26.1 million for himself last year with the majority of it coming from touring ($15.4 million).

Rihanna is one bad girl and she knows how to please her fans. We see this from $18.8 of her $22.3 million came from streaming and touring. She sits at number 12 on the chart.

Future sits at number 17 on the list before a large gap in artists leads us to The Weeknd at number 42. In total, we see six of the top 50 come from hip-hop and R&B music.
