Here’s the scoop on Blake Lively’s new line of Fizzy Mixers

Lively doesn’t consume alcohol, but she’s still come to appreciate the art of a good drink, most specifically a good mixer. “I know that’s odd coming from the wife of an infamous gin-slinger,” Lively shares in a statement reported by Delish. “Over the past many years of mixing but not drinking cocktails, it became clear mixers are the unsung heroes of the drink world and deserve just as much love as alcohol.”

This realization, and the love for a good fizzy drink, helped inspire Lively to develop a line of high-quality mixers — a passion project she has been working on for three years. Not to be outdone by her regularly jesting husband Ryan Reynolds, Lively jokes on Instagram, “Well, at least it’s not a celebrity alcohol?”

The fizzy mixers are called “Betty Buzz,” and here’s what you need to know….

Betty Buzz is available in tonic water, sparkling grapefruit, Meyer lemon club soda, sparkling lemon lime, and ginger beer flavors. The brand notes its products are crafted in the U.S.A. using natural ingredients, and serve as a low-calorie drink option. As fan lovingryanreynolds commented on Instagram, “Omg can i try this already!!!” Fortunately, the answer is yes, you can try this delicious-sounding drink. Betty Buzz is available online and at select retailers, and will run you $29.99 for a 12-pack plus shipping. You won’t want to miss the many tasty-looking drink recipes available on the Betty Buzz website, either.

But how’d she come up with the name Betty Buzz? Blake shares that her father’s name is actually Ernest Brown, Jr., but that he gave up his name upon marrying her more famous mother (who also changed her name from Elaine McAlpin to Elaine Lively, according to IMDB). In an effort to honor her father and give him a new name to hold onto, Lively explained in her interview with Delish that she “wanted any success to be in a name that was meaningful to him. Betty was his mom and his sister’s name.”  But as for why not a direct namesake, Lively’s sense of humor returns: “Ernie would not be the best name for a mixer”.
