Happy New Year: Apple TV+ Is Free for the First Weekend of 2025

New year, new streaming service? If you’ve been curious about Severance or never got around to watching Ted Lasso, access to Apple TV+ is free this weekend.

As PCMag reports, from January 3 thru 5 in this new year, Apple’s entire streaming library will be accessible without a subscription. The offer is valid for anyone with an Apple Account and the Apple TV app.

There has been a little confusion about the dates. Apple’s press release states the offer is valid from Jan. 3-5, but its X post says the promotion runs from Jan. 4-5. We contacted Apple for clarification, but regardless, you will get at least two days of free streaming, and possibly three.

The offer is aimed at helping first-timers “see what all the buzz is about,” according to Apple, which likely hopes you get sucked into one of its critically acclaimed shows and pony up for a $9.99-per-month subscription by the end of the weekend. (New subscribers get a seven-day free trial.) You can also get it as part of an Apple One subscription bundle.

Popular series on the platform include (aside from Ted Lasso and Severance as mentioned above), The Morning Show and Golden Globe-nominated Slow Horses, Disclaimer, and Shrinking. Apple recently posted the first eight minutes of the season two Severance premiere, so check that out before the full episode drops on Jan. 17.

There are also Apple+ exclusive films like Fly Me to the Moon starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, Blitz, starring Saoirse Ronan and directed by Steve McQueen, and Wolfs, with superstars George Clooney and Bradd Pitt. Apple+ is where you can also see award winning films like Napoleon, Killers of the Flower Moon and Coda, which won the Best Picture Oscar in 2022.
