Rockstar Games has announced that preorders for its long-delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 will finally begin on June 25! As PCMag reports, there’s still no confirmation on the game’s price, but Rockstar’s decision to open preorders suggests the studio is confident about its planned Nov. 19 release date.
“Preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers,” Rockstar tweeted last week. The studio also shared the official cover art for the game, which you can download from its dedicated landing page for wallpapers.
GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games in history, but it has been delayed multiple times for unclear reasons. The Nov. 19 release date was confirmed by Rockstar late last year, and at the time, the studio said it was using the extra time to refine the game and meet fan expectations.
The hype around the game has only increased since. So much so that TechRadar reported an automotive company has announced an operational shutdown on release day as it doesn’t expect many of its workers to show up.
That said, Rockstar has yet to confirm GTA 6’s price. Bank of America analyst Omar Dessouky told Seeking Alpha last month that it could be priced at $80. Flagship games from other studios are a touch below the same price point, but given the rise in component cost and the reported $1 billion+ budget of the game, high price tags aren’t surprising.
