Yesterday, Green Day shared a short clip of them recording, what seems to be, new music in London.
The short clip, which was posted to the band’s Instagram and included some vague details like “1972” flashing across the screen, is inspiring a slew of speculation from fans. Many believe that the new song may be an indication that a new album is on its way.
“1972? 50th birthday special?” wrote a fan, which could mean a 50th birthday release of some kind. Another fan said: “I guess that rumour about Billie telling a fan that they’re releasing new music soon is true…😭”
Green Day’s last album Father Of All Motherf—ers was released in 2020. This most recent trip to the recording studio also follows the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the second album Kerplunk! which was released on December 15th, 1991.
