Green Day Collabs with 7-11 for a 90’s Punk Style Slurpee

These days, brands have a wealth of celebrity-backed launches up their sleeve. And in the coming days, an unexpected partnership is heading to a Slurpee machine near you: 7-Eleven is collaborating with the ‘90s punk band Green Day for its Slurpee flavor — the Kerplunk Kandy Grape

According to 7-11, the Slurpee flavor is an ode to the band’s 1992 album “Kerplunk!”, that mashes up cotton candy sweetness with juicy grape vibes. “The Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee drink is a sweet and slightly twisted treat that tastes just like the cotton candy grapes Green Day keeps as a staple on their backstage riders. Born from the band’s personal snack pile and reborn in frozen form, this isn’t your average frozen treat – it’s a full-on flavor riot.”

These sugary-sweet, white grapes go viral every year and are a summertime favorite for many — including the band’s lead vocalist, Billie Joe Armstrong.  “I have great memories of getting Slurpee drinks with my friends. It’s always perfect on a good day or even a bad one. Being able to create our own custom Punk Bunny flavor and bring it to everyone across the country has been an amazing moment,” Armstrong explains in the press release.

Their Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee — which references Green Day’s 1992 album, “Kerplunk!” — is now officially on tap at 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes locations nationwide. Punk Bunny already teased the limited-edition collaboration on Instagram earlier this month, sharing behind-the-scenes snaps of the neon green treat. The limited-edition Slurpee flavor was previously part of a limited rollout on April 20 at select 7-Eleven locations in Los Angeles. In another Instagram teaser, the band said the Slurpee flavor’s national launch would spur the “greatest Slurpee sales in history!” (We have yet to hear about any sales numbers.)

This pairing marks yet another partnership between them and the band’s coffee line, Punk Bunny. Green Day’s Punk Bunny has been around since 2015, when the band initially launched it under the name Oakland Coffee. It offers a line of organic coffee grounds and K-Cup pods, following a 2024 partnership with Keurig Dr Pepper. According to the 7-11 release, 7-Eleven and Green Day are also rolling out three new exclusive Punk Bunny coffee varieties at participating stores: Mike Dirnt’s Turn Up the Bass Medium Roast, Punk Bunny Cold Brew Caramel Latte and Chocolate Almond Specialty Latte.

“Our first launch with Green Day and Punk Bunny was so exciting for customers because they loved seeing music and coffee culture collide in such a unique way,” said Marissa Jarratt, Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing & Sustainability Officer at 7-Eleven, Inc. Now, we’re channeling that same punk spirit into our iconic Slurpee drink. Kerplunk Kandy Grape is rooted in the band’s story, and we can’t wait for fans to experience this one-of-a-kind flavor.”
