Grateful Dead Commemorates 60th Anniversary with Expansive 60-CD Box Set ‘Enjoying the Ride’

In celebration of their 60th anniversary, the Grateful Dead is set to release an extensive 60-CD box set titled Enjoying the Ride on May 30, 2025. This monumental collection encapsulates over 60 hours of live performances spanning from 1969 to 1994, offering fans a deep dive into the band’s storied history.

Enjoying the Ride features recordings from 20 legendary venues that played pivotal roles in the Grateful Dead’s legacy. These include the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, Madison Square Garden in New York City, and the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. The collection comprises 20 complete shows, with 17 presented in full and others curated from multiple performances at each venue. Notably, the set includes unreleased performances of classics like “Scarlet Begonias,” “Touch of Grey,” and “Fire on the Mountain” from a 1984 concert at the Greek Theatre.

Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux curated the box set, aiming to evoke the experience of following the band from city to city. The collection is housed in a custom-designed box reminiscent of a road trip along the “Heady Highway.” Accompanying the music is a detailed tour guide featuring liner notes by Jesse Jarnow, essays, and photographs, many captured at the featured shows.

Enjoying the Ride is limited to 6,000 individually numbered copies and will be available exclusively through Dead.net. For fans seeking a more concise compilation, The Music Never Stopped offers selections from the box set on three CDs or six LPs, each featuring at least one song from every venue included in the deluxe set.
