Ghost to Pay Tribute to Queen at 2025 Polar Music Prize Ceremony

Swedish metal juggernauts Ghost will take the stage at this year’s Polar Music Prize ceremony on May 27th in Stockholm, honoring none other than legendary rock band Queen with a special tribute performance. Joining them is Opeth guitarist Fredrik Åkesson, in what promises to be a standout moment of the evening.

Adding to the celebration is Adam Lambert, Queen’s long-standing touring frontman, who will also deliver his own homage to the iconic group. In a statement, Queen expressed their gratitude for the honor, calling it “incredible” to be recognized.

Held annually at Stockholm’s Grand Hôtel, the Polar Music Prize is often dubbed the “Nobel Prize of Music.” The prestigious award honors influential figures in both contemporary and classical music, and is presented in the presence of the Swedish Royal Family. This year’s laureates include Queen, jazz legend Herbie Hancock, and Canadian soprano-conductor Barbara Hannigan.

Ghost’s involvement is especially fitting—frontman Tobias Forge has often cited Freddie Mercury as a central influence on the band’s theatrical persona, particularly in shaping Ghost’s rotating “Papa” characters.

Following the ceremony, Ghost will wrap up their European tour before heading to the U.S. in July for a headlining arena run, solidifying 2025 as a monumental year for the band.
