On Wednesday, restaurants, convenience stores and brands alike are toasting the made-up holiday by giving away free coffee or serving up discounted brew. While many partake in the caffeinated beverage daily (according to a National Coffee Data Trends Report, nearly 60% of Americans choose coffee each day over other beverages, including water), the holiday is held annually on September 29.
Starbucks Coffee Day: Bring reusable mug for free coffee
Starbucks is celebrating its 50th anniversary Wednesday with a rare freebie. Select Starbucks Reserve locations, including the roasteries in Seattle, Chicago and New York City, are also celebrating National Coffee Day. Customers who bring in a clean, empty, reusable cup into the store will receive a free Starbucks Reserve coffee or cold brew.
