George Strait may be 73, but the King of Country proves he’s still at the top of his game. Currently out on tour, Strait gave Pittsburgh fans a special moment on May 31 when he paid tribute to one of country’s most iconic voices—Waylon Jennings.
Midway through his set at Acrisure Stadium, Strait launched into a heartfelt rendition of Jennings’ 1977 classic “Luckenbach, Texas,” much to the crowd’s delight. The cover was more than just nostalgic—it was a reverent nod to a legend who helped pave the road Strait walks today.
Fans were quick to share their admiration. “There is no song this man can’t sing and make it his own,” one concertgoer wrote, while another added, “They don’t make cowboys like that anymore.”
Strait’s timeless voice and humble charisma have cemented his place in country history. Upcoming shows include stops in Buffalo and Foxborough with Chris Stapleton, and a highly anticipated July show in Inglewood, California.
For those lucky enough to catch him live, it’s more than a concert—it’s a masterclass from a true country original honoring those who came before him, while continuing to inspire those who follow.
