According to tasteofcountry.com, Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson and George Strait are amongst the names that are contributing to a Billy Joe Shaver Tribute album that is due to arrive on November 11th. The album will be titled, Live Forever: A Tribute to Billy Joe Shaver, with the title track of the album being a collaboration of Nelson and Lucinda-Williams, already out. Nelson is also the only artist to contribute two performances to the Tribute album, according to Variety.
George Strait contributed his version of “Willy the Wandering Gypsy and Me.” While Miranda Lambert sings “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal.” and Steve Earle performed “Ain’t No Good in Mexico.” Margo Price also covered “Ragged Old Truck,” for the album. Amanda Shires, Ryan Bingham, Nathaniel Rateliff, Edie Brickell, Allison Russel, Nikki Lane, and Rodney Crowell will all be featured on the 12 track album as well.
Meanwhile, the tribute project was produced by Charlie Sexton along with Freddie Fletcher who knew Shaver for five decades. Pre-Orders for the project are available now through New West Records and includes exclusive vinyl color options as well as a t-shirt that is available for purchase. Billy Joe Shaver passed away in October of 2020 at the age of 81 years old.
