It’s not every day that the most popular sporting event of the year is also the most watched television event of the year but Sunday that’s what we’ll see with the 50th NFL final game. Imagine 50 incredible football games that our grandchildren will be telling their grandchildren.

The first game was played on January 15, 1967, as the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. The game was played in Los Angeles and had a viewing audience of 73 million viewers.

In 2015, the Patriots beat the Seahawks 28-24, and was watched by a record 114 million viewers. New England players took home nearly $100,000 and the Seattle players earned $49,000 for their performance. In 1967, the winning Packers earned a whopping $15,000 in prize money, while the Chiefs took home $7,500.

There will be 72 footballs used in the big game Sunday, and no, Tom Brady will not get to see them before kickoff.
